If you’re looking for a relaxed, warm and fun feel to your wedding ceremony, but also a ceremony which is solemn and sincere at all the appropriate points, I may well be a good match for you, as a couple!

As you’ll read from my Facebook reviews (on the right hand side of this page, I pride myself in helping guide you through the entire process – from the very first time we meet up, to submitting your paperwork to the local registrars (your M10 forms), to meeting up again before your big day to chat everything over.

I’m here to help make sure things run smoothly on the day and ensure your ceremony leaves you wishing you could do the whole thing over again.

When we first meet up for an informal chat, (in person, or on Zoom), we’ll talk about any ideas you may already have for your special day and discuss options such as writing your own vows and the inclusion of symbolic gestures.

Most couples meet me in my own home, in a nice relaxed atmosphere, and after our initial meeting,  I’ll email you paperwork along with the various options we’ve chatted over so you can consider them in the comfort of your own home.

When we meet, you can opt to either tell me your story of how you met and your journey to marriage, or I can send you off with a bit of ‘homework’ and you can email your story through to me.

Lots of couples like the ‘homework’ idea, as it’s a great opportunity to sit down together and remind yourselves of the reasons why you love each other and why you have chosen to marry.  I then draft your ceremony, which you can then edit and play about with, and this process continues until you are entirely happy with your ceremony.

From our first meeting, we’ll work together to create the perfect ceremony, one which truly reflects both of your personalities and all the things that are important to you.

When it comes to your wedding day, I’ll arrive about an hour before the ceremony is due to start – giving me time to catch up with the venue staff, your photographer and/or videographer, musicians and any guests who may be involved in readings, etc, on the day – just to have a final check everything is in place.

There are no restrictions to where you can marry, or what day or time, so you may get a much better deal all round if you choose something ‘off-peak’!

HSS celebrants are licensed to legally marry couples in any venue – anywhere from your own home, a fancy hotel, out on a loch or up a mountain (with the proviso that it’s safe and dignified).

All HSS ceremonies are covered by our Ceremony Promise, meaning all celebrants are trained to the highest standard.  We’re also fully insured, and with around 140 wedding celebrants across Scotland, we have a large enough network to guarantee cover at short notice.

And of course, by choosing an HSS celebrant, you will be contributing to the extensive charitable work and campaigning the Society supports, both through your registration fee, and I also donate 10% of my fee back to the HSS.

Your wedding day will be a special celebration of your love for one another – it will be unique, relaxed and meaningful, and, at the same time, fun – a day which you and your guests will remember and talk of for years to come.
